“From Origins to Flourishing: Buddhism in the Jingxiang Region (300–600 CE)”
Her dissertation examines the history of Buddhist penetration into the Jingxiang 荆襄 region, from its origins to the early years of the Sui Dynasty (581–618). By analyzing the biographies of monks and nuns who were active in this region, it traces their life trajectories and contributions. This study aims to map the development of Buddhism in Jingxiang through the lens of its local religious history, while concurrently engaging in a dialogue with larger historical and religious issues at the imperium-wide level. She submitted her dissertation in January 2024.
