Alla Sizova

PhD student at the Doctoral Program in Buddhist Studies

Responsibilities

"Tibetan Buddhism in the Tangut state (study based on the collections of Tibetan manuscripts from Khara-Khoto)"

Alla Sizova earned her Master's degree in Literature from St. Petersburg State University, specifically from the Department of Mongolian and Tibetan Studies within the Faculty of Oriental Studies (2010). Her thesis focused on the Lam-rim in the Mongolian literary tradition. From 2010 to 2022, she was in charge of the Mongolian collection of the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts, RAS, and consistently contributed to cataloguing projects for the Tibetan collection.

Sizova's dissertation project explores Tibetan Buddhism in the Tangut state, drawing on the collections of Tibetan manuscripts from Khara-Khoto. This project aims to study the scope and repertoire of the extant Tibetan Buddhist texts that originated in the Tangut state (Xi Xia) (1038—1227). A comprehensive analysis of these texts will facilitate a more comprehensive understanding of Tibetan Buddhism in the Tangut state.
