Responsibilities

A Comparative Study on Traditional Moxibustion in Mongolian Medicine and Tibetan Medicine

Qi Liu received her M.A in History of Science from Tsinghua University of China in 2019. Her research focused on the history of traditional Mongolian medicine which is influenced by Tibetan Buddhism. By reviewing the history of Mongolian medicine, it shows medicine played a significant role in the development of Tibetan Buddhism and external therapy always plays a vital role in Tibetan Medicine and Mongolian Medicine. Therefore, her current dissertation project in Doctoral Program in Buddhist Studies focuses on moxibustion therapy in Tibetan Medicine and Mongolian Medicine. It aims to analyze the main similarities and differences between Tibetan and Mongolian moxibustion, chart the development of moxibustion in Tibetan and Mongolian medicine, and discuss the roles of Tibetan Buddhism in Tibetan and Mongolian medicine.
